Martel Mikhail is a skilled negotiator with sound judgment and instinct. He is passionate about pursuing justice and has secured hundreds of thousands of dollars of severance for terminated employees. Martel has represented clients before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ministry of Labour, the Small Claims Court, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. Fearless about representing the underdog, early in his career, Martel spearheaded a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit against a global corporation on behalf of thousands of misclassified working managers.
Martel earned his bachelor’s degree in political science, enhancing his experience during that time by working as a parliamentary aide for a Member of Parliament in Canada’s House of Commons. He went on to complete his law degree from the University of Ottawa and underwent an intensive internship in Dubai, U.A.E., with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, an elite multinational American law firm. During law school, Martel completed an exchange semester in Barcelona which cultivated his leadership and problem-solving qualities.
Martel is very active in his community and engages regularly with local charitable organizations. He has published legal articles and mentors both law students and those aspiring to be lawyers. He is fluent in Arabic and has a basic grasp of Spanish.
